Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Etinosa Idemudia, has revealed that her decision to undergo cosmetic surgery was driven by years of bullying and the relentless mockery she faced due to her body. In a candid interview with Sunday Scoop, Idemudia shared the emotional toll her physical appearance had taken on her, especially regarding her stomach.
“I have been constantly bullied and mocked for my stomach. It affected me, but I tried to stay positive,” she said. The actress explained that much of her weight gain was due to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition she believes many people do not fully understand. She emphasized the importance of kindness and understanding, stating, “We should all be kind to one another because everyone is dealing with something.”
Idemudia also recounted her journey to Heritage Hospital, where she found trust and comfort after a consultation with their doctors. “For the first time, I felt I could trust a clinic,” she explained, highlighting the role that trust played in her decision.
The actress, who had earlier sparked a wave of reactions online after announcing she had undergone liposuction, acknowledged the impact of the entertainment industry on her choice. “Looking good is part of the job. My decision came from the need to look my age. Sometimes, fat makes you look older,” she said, reflecting on the constant scrutiny of appearance in show business.
While some critics have suggested that “natural fitness” should be prioritized over cosmetic procedures in Nollywood, Idemudia dismissed such views as “ignorant.” She emphasized that whether a person achieves their desired body naturally or surgically, it is a personal choice. “If you can afford a qualified surgeon and a standard hospital, go ahead and have peace of mind. Science exists to make life easier. The world is evolving,” she stated.
With her new appearance, Idemudia revealed that her confidence had grown, further fueling her determination to succeed in the industry. “As an actor, looks and skill go hand in hand. Talent is important, but I now feel more confident and ready to keep building on the work I’ve started in Nollywood,” she concluded.
Idemudia’s openness about her cosmetic surgery journey has sparked conversations surrounding body image, self-esteem, and the pressures faced by celebrities in the spotlight.
