Ignore sycophants who clap in darkness while citizens cry in the night —Senator Ndune warns Tinubu

Former Senate majority leader and senator representing Bornu South Ali Ndume has advised president Tinubu to be wary of politicians and people whose major work is sycophancy and praise singing while the country perishes.

Senator Ali Ndume describes the current situation as that of President Bola Tinubu’s growing detachment from the real issues affecting Nigerians, attributing the situation to the influence of his close aides.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker said the current state of governance under the ruling party has left many citizens disillusioned and weary.

“Things are not going the way they should, and even Mr. President has admitted that,” Ndume stated. “But we keep being told that Nigerians should be patient. The question is—how long can people continue to endure?”

He accused members of the president’s advisory team of shielding him from the nation’s true state by delivering only favorable reports. “Those around him are only telling him what he wants to hear, not what is really happening,” Ndume said. “The only adviser I commend is Sunday Dare. He speaks the truth and has a long-standing relationship with the President.”

Ndume also raised alarm over what he called the hijacking of the administration by unelected individuals, whom he claims wield undue influence over government decisions. “There are people who have taken over the running of this government. They are the ones making the real decisions,” he alleged.

While critical of the situation, Ndume clarified that his remarks were not personal attacks on the president. “I don’t have a problem with President Tinubu—he is my president. But when something isn’t right, it’s my duty to speak up,” he said.

His remarks come at a time when the APC-led government is under increasing pressure to address worsening economic challenges, including rising inflation, insecurity, and the soaring cost of living.
