Former president Goodluck Jonathan has come out hard on old Nigerian politicians saying it is time for them to retire and leave the stage for younger Nigerians.
Jonathan stated this at the Annual Murirala Mohammed lecture in Abuja with other heads of state and presidents.
He drew inference to other countries of the world with younger leaders whereas in Nigeria their presidents recently are the ones in their 100 years according to him.
Late president Buhari was over 70 years when he became president in 2015 and Tinubu became president at age 72 years in 2023.
But secretary to the government of the Federation George Akume on his own said age has nothing to do with the performance and capability of a leader but what matters is the age of the ideas the person occupying the position is applying in handling issues
