Former U.S. President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer, his personal office confirmed in a statement on Monday.

The diagnosis follows recent medical evaluations prompted by worsening urinary symptoms. According to the statement, Biden underwent further testing last week, which revealed a prostate nodule. On Friday, physicians confirmed the presence of prostate cancer with a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5), indicating an aggressive form of the disease. The cancer has metastasized to the bone.

Despite the severity, doctors have determined that the cancer is hormone-sensitive, which makes it more responsive to certain treatment approaches. The former President and his family are currently consulting with his medical team to determine the best course of treatment.
