A Hausa activist and socio-political analyst, Mahdi Shehu, has mocked politicians and leaders from the South-East region following the conviction of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday.
As many Nigerians reacted to the sentence with diverse opinions, Shehu, in a post on his X handle on Friday, accused the Igbo politicians of abandoning Kanu to his fate for their own personal gains and favours from President Bola Tinubu.
In the sarcastic post, Shehu told the Igbo leaders that now that the Biafran agitator has been sentenced to life imprisonment, the Igbo leaders including governors, senators, house of representative members, ministers and other political appointees the zone will should congratulate themselves and have a peaceful night.
‘With the conviction of Mazi Kanu, all South-East Governors, their Senators, Members, Ministers and other political appointees their zone will have a “PEACEFUL NIGHT”, Shehu wrote.
Continuing, he accused Igbo politicians who are in Tinubu’s cabinet of playing silent but significant roles in Kanu’s predicament.
“Most of the South East politicians and Tinubu’s political appointees from the zone played very silent but significant roles in Mazi Kanu’s Predicament out of cowardice, fear, greed and betrayal.
“They perceived Kanu as an individual capable of diminishing whatever popularity they claim to have.
“From today on, they will cowardly congratulate each other, celebrate silently, do a Thanksgiving in private residential chapels because the “BROTHER ENEMY” is being tormented and because:
1. Mazi Kanu, their biggest political threat has been convicted.
2. Because they have achieved their aim of seeing him suppressed
3. Because they owe Tinubu an inordinate silence as a sign of approval for Mazi Kanu’s conviction.
4. Because their insatiable appetite will continue to grow until they meet their waterloo.
5. However their uncle Prof CHINUA Achebe warned them 50 years ago that:
(a) “The hill may not know, but it is on the ground”
(b) No man however great was greater than his people; no one ever won judgment against his people.”
(c) “The death that will kill a man begins as an appetite.”
6. The hypocritical Ndi-Igbo politicians who are feasting with a “lion” will very soon come to realize that their celebrations will be short-lived because KARMA will catch up with them individually and collectively and “WHAT WILL BE SHALL BE” , WHAT SHALL BECOME WILL BECOME.
7. It is just a matter of Time that Kanu will regain his freedom if one considered people like Sunday Igboho, Gani Adams, Tompolo, Dokubo Asari, murderous “REPENTANT BOKO HARAM” kingpins, and how they are moving around with security cover after they took arms against the state, murdered thousands, destroyed State critical Assets, maimed, incapacitated thousands etc.
8. It is just a matter of time that Kanu will be free in a country where Drug barons, arsonists, treasury looters, thieves, murderers, treasonable felons are set free under a doubtful Amnesty program full of nepotism and selectivism.
A DAY IS COMING.’
