Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has stirred fresh reactions on social media after making a pointed post that many interpreted as a jab at Morocco, following Senegal’s triumph at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nwabali, who was at the centre of controversy during Nigeria’s semi-final clash with Morocco over the removal of his towel from the pitch, took to his X page shortly after Senegal defeated Morocco. Writing in Pidgin, the goalkeeper posted: “Make Una use all my towel Una carry wipe Una tears,” reports Gwg.com.
The post quickly gained attention, reopening conversations around the earlier incident in which Nwabali’s towel was twice removed during the Nigeria–Morocco match, an episode many fans believed was an attempt to unsettle him. Senegal’s victory appeared to have given the comment fresh context, with supporters reading it as a subtle response to that experience.
Reactions poured in from fans and commentators, with many expressing amusement, while others offered criticism.

Black Panther (@lobstarflick) took a different angle, saying: “So Arabs are fearful of African gods in terms of juju. Is Allah not capable of reversing any cursed on them?”
BadBoy Zee 🌹🥷🏽🤍 (@FlowWithCeezhed) reacted emotionally to the result, writing: “Congratulations my Senegal 🇸🇳 brothers 🤍🇳🇬 The water that’s dropping inside the stadium is not rain, it’s Moroccan tears. I can taste it from Nigeria and it’s very sweet. We are drinking it here in Lagos Nigeria 🇳🇬 😂🤣
Samwall💰💰💰 (@wolexmind) linked the issue to wider concerns about African football, stating: “Pls anytime Super-Eagles player any of this North-Africans. Nah madness them dey use cure madness o Abeg. Abeg. From coach to the players and fans too. That’s why the whole Africa supported what Senegal coach did tonight. Morocco is a corrupting African football.”
Not all reactions were supportive. paul_chase🇵🇹 (@pauldareomole1) criticised the goalkeeper, writing: “One of the worst goalkeepers to play for super eagles.”
Another user, Just2Codex (@J2Codex), focused again on the towel saga: “Omor I think say na fake account before oo Normal dem know say e go be like this na why dem collect your towels 😂😂.”
God’s own (@t0sinadeda) pointed out that Senegal faced similar tactics, saying: “They tried that same shit with Senegal. They fought back. Just look at Hakimi, a disgrace!”
Nwabali has not responded further to the mixed reactions, but his post has kept the spotlight on the earlier semi-final incident and added an extra layer of rivalry to discussions around Senegal’s AFCON victory. As debates continue online, the towel episode remains one of the tournament’s most talked-about moments.
