A major tragedy was averted on Thursday, January 9, 2026, when a minitruck carrying tomatoes lost control due to brake failure on Otedola Bridge.
The accident, which happened around noon, resulted in no fatalities.
However, eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the truck veered off its lane and rammed into several vehicles on the bridge.
Widely regarded as one of Lagos’ most dangerous corridors, Otedola Bridge is defined by a lethal combination of steep gradients and frequent mechanical failures.
The accident adds to a multiple number of crashes on the now jinxed Otedola bridge.
