The president of Nigeria Guild Of Editors Eze Anaba has debunked the news that the Guild paid a whooping N16.5 million just to use the presidential banquet hall and also used the opportunity for president Tinubu to attend their just concluded conference.
It will be recalled that the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) used the Banquet Hall at the Presidential Villa (Aso Rock Villa) in Abuja for the opening session of their 21st All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC 2025) on November 12, 2025.
This clarification was gotten when Agenda Papers demanded a confirmation or debunking of the news of payment of N16.5 million for the usage of the hall
Eze Anaba who is also the editor of Vanguard newspaper asked the peddlers of the news to produce the receipt of the payment if they are sure.
In his words ” There is nothing to confirm…the story is absolutely and utterly rubbish”
SaharaReporters had earlier reported that editors and media executives coughed up N16.5 million because the Banquet Hall in Aso Rock had been commercialised.
They further alleged that the Guild moved out and continued the meeting the following day at the NAF Conference Centre in Kado, Abuja.
Reason for the usage of Banquet Hall according to the paper is because the presidency wouldn’t allow Tinubu to go out of the Villa and hold events.
To them this has been the case since the coup plot by some military personnel was reported,”
This is what SaharaReporters said a top source informed them.
