Soldier stabs father of four bouncer, Kingsley Abbey to death in nightclub in Portharcourt
The Rivers State Police Command said it has launched investigations and a manhunt for a fleeing soldier suspected to be involved in the alleged killing of a bouncer in Rivers State.
The slain bouncer, identified as Mr. Kingsley Abbey who is a father of four was stabbed to death at the entrance of a popular night club in Bonny Island, Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, over the weekend, after attempting to restrict the armed Naval personnel from gaining access.
It was gathered that the bouncer during a routine check on all guests before entry, discovered a dagger on the yet to be identified soldier, said to be off duty seeking entrance into the premises.
It was learnt that the bouncer in a bid to restrict the soldier from gaining access into the club with a weapon, that provoked the soldier into attacking the bouncer with the dagger before fleeing.
Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident said the Police was making a concerted effort to identify, arrest and prosecute the fleeing suspect.
She said, “The person that committed that crime, his identity is yet unknown, investigation is ongoing to find out who actually committed that crime.”
Meanwhile the wife of the deceased, Mrs. Diepreye Abbey, who is seeking justice over the killing of her husband, told Daily Independent that colleagues of her late husband disclosed to her that a man in a Naval uniform came to the club where her husband worked and stabbed him following an argument at the gate.
Widow of the slain bouncer said after learning of her husband’s unfortunate incident, she rushed to different hospitals to search for him, only to find his lifeless body at one of the medical facilities in the area.
She said, “I searched all the hospitals where they kept him, but I didn’t find him, at last at a place called Marcurley was where I found him.
“When I went there, my husband was already dead. I was crying and I asked what really happened, they (deceased husband’s colleagues) told me that a uniformed guy came to the club my is working and as he (the deceased) was searching him, checking all round, he saw a dagger and said you cannot enter, from there problem started and the guy stabbed him.
“I want justice for my husband because I have four children, who will train them, I am not working. I need justice.”
