TCN to yank off IBEDC from national grid over N300 billion debt
The management of Ibadan electricity company (IBEDC) has cried out to its customers to pay up their outstanding energy bill for the Disco not to be taken off the national grid and plunge states and communities into darkness.
Making the appeal on a national radio the senior communication manager of the company for Ogun state Mr. Dada Ayodeji pleaded with customers with huge debt profile to pay up to avoid embarrassment.
To achieve this he said IBEDC is engaging law enforcement agents to ensure that a huge percentage of their debt is recovered.
He further disclosed that TCN gave them just ten days to pay up or be disconnected.
IBEDC covers Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, part of Ondo and part of Kwara states.
Power supply from IBEDC has been very poor and abysmal particularly in some communities in Ogun state like Magboro, Okeafa, Ibafo and Mowe. Sometimes these communities may be supplied electricity for just eight days in a month and a huge estimated bill will be given to them.
Most customers in these communities are demanding for prepaid meters so that they can assess and monitor the energy they are consuming and paying for.
