Untouchable and ontroversial Islamic fundamentalist, Ahmad Gumi, has alleged that the Nigerian government has detailed knowledge of terrorists operating across the country, including their identities and locations.
Speaking in a recent video interview, the cleric—known for engaging in negotiations with armed groups—said he never visits terrorist camps without the involvement of security personnel, including officers of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.
According to him, both the government and top security officials are fully aware of the whereabouts of these terrorists, reports Politics Nigeria.
“The government knows every terrorist by name and by location. I don’t go alone, I don’t go to the terrorists alone. I call the police, I call the security, everybody,” Gumi said.
The cleric also revealed that traditional rulers and women from affected communities often accompany him during negotiations with the armed groups.
“I will go to the Emirs of that place. In fact, when we went to one terrorist camp, we went with even women into the bush,” he added.
Gumi’s claim comes months after the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, similarly suggested that authorities have knowledge of bandit leaders and their locations.
In November 2025, Lawal said he could eliminate bandits operating in the state within two months if granted the necessary authority.
“I swear to Almighty Allah, wherever a bandit leader is in Zamfara State, I know it. If he goes out, I know. With my phone, I can show you where they are today. But we cannot do anything beyond our powers,” the governor said.
He explained that security operations in the state are controlled from Abuja, limiting the state government’s ability to take direct action against the criminal groups.
