We cannot throw legacy of our country away as Americans have not seen anything like this before—–Ex President Bill Clinton blasts Trump

Former President Bill Clinton opened up about current President Donald Trump and his administration during an appearance on CBS “Sunday Morning,” this week.

“Look, we’ve never seen anything like this before in my lifetime,” Clinton said. “Somebody that says, ‘Whatever I want should be the law of the land. It’s my way or the highway.’ And most Americans don’t agree with that.”

Clinton said that Democrats have to focus on gubernatorial races and winning the House of Representatives to create change.

“I think that (Trump) has paid a price for this, you know, name-calling and throwing his weight around,” he said.

“I think it’s made him less popular to the point where … look, only elections are going to change this,” he continued. “But I do think the courts are getting their dander up. I think him shutting law firms out of representing their clients before federal agencies in federal buildings because he doesn’t agree with their position — that ain’t America. We’ve never done that. The whole purpose of having a legal system is to have both sides be heard.”

He was asked if he was worried that the only thing that unites the Democratic Party was a hatred of Trump.

“If I thought that was the case, I would,” Clinton said. “But I don’t think it’s true. I just think that most people that are criticizing the Democrats right now have no idea how difficult it is to decide the right thing to do. I think it’s not as easy as people think. That will come. Elections will happen and we will see.

“President Trump has a right to do what he thinks is right. He’s doing it. The courts are doing their jobs. There will be other elections.”

That is when Clinton really showed some emotion.

“Someone needs to stand up and say, ‘(Expletive) it, what we have in common matters more,” Clinton said. “We cannot throw the legacy of this country away. We cannot destroy other people’s trust in us.

“We need to preserve that, and find a way to work together and not humiliate other people just so we can win,” he added. “We gotta just calm down and pull people together again.”

Bill Clinton’s interview came after his wife, Hillary Clinton, recently made headlines when talking about Trump’s constant flirtation with running for a third term. That, of course, is prohibited by the Constitution, but that has not stopped the president from discussing it.

“Listen to what Trump says,” Hillary Clinton said. “He telegraphs everything. And often when he’s criticizing something he’s criticizing them for what he’s already done or intends to do.

“When he says, ‘You know there are people who think that it could happen,’ what he’s saying is he has people right now in these right-wing think tanks trying to figure out how to make it happen,” she added. “And he also has very militant supporters who believe that it should happen, so if it can’t happen legally that is not an obstacle.”

That in mind, Hillary said, it might be time to start thinking about how to counter an attempt for Trump at a third term.

“I think you have to take all of it seriously,” she said. “The best response might be for, you know, (former presidents) Barack (Obama) and Bill (Clinton) to run too,” she said to cheers. “I mean, OK, take your choice! What do you want for a third term, people? If this is where we’re heading, we’re going to break the Constitution, give people a choice!

“I mean, this is so nuts, I feel embarrassed talking about it, but I think you have to face up to it,” she added. “They are going to try to do that.”
