Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has shaded nightlife entrepreneur and socialite, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, over his comments following the conviction and sentencing of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment by a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.
Immediately after the sentenced was delivered by Justice James Omotosho, Okechukwu who the CEO of the Cubana Group of companies, took to social media to warn President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will suffer a catastrophic defeat in the South-East during the 2027 general elections due to the conviction of the IPOB leader.
In the post, Cubana Chief Priest who is also known for his strong political connections with the APC, said that it would be difficult for the party to garner 10,000 votes in the region without Kanu’s release.
“As long as MNK remains in jail, you cannot and will never get up to 10,000 votes in South-East come 2027,” he wrote.
He went on to describe Kanu as the “supreme leader” of the South-East, stating that the continued detention of the IPOB leader has caused “so much setback.”
The Chief Priest also accused South-East politicians, ministers and political appointees in the current administration of failing to speak truth to power, calling them cowards who lack the capacity to generate goodwill for Tinubu.
“None of them can do anything to make the people love and respect you. They can’t even go to their home towns because of MNK’s detention. They only want lands from you to develop and sell.
“Your legacies will be swept under the carpet… Without MNK outside, everything shall fall into pieces. Southeast belongs to MNK. These are the words of the gods,” the celebrity barman added.
As the post sparked a debate on social media with many lending support to it, Portable also weighed in and blasted Cubana over what he described as hypocrisy, saying that when he was hobnobbing with Tinubu and his son Seyi, he did not remember that Kanu was still in detention.
“Cubana ChiefPriest, when you visited President Tinubu, did you tell him to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu? You only went there to hustle for contracts and secure your own interests, you fight for your big belle.
“Boko Haram and other terrorists have been attacking Nigerians long before Tinubu became president, so only God can truly save this country,” Portable said.
