The question on the lips of many Nigerians now is when will Dangote refinery start oil production.
This question is coming in the heels of promises made by federal government and president Dangote group, Aliko Dangote that work on the refinery has been completed.
It will be recalled that Dangote refinery was commissioned in May 2023 by outgone president Buhari with the promise that fuel production will commence in July.
July has come and gone with no trace of oil production or single litre of fuel from the pomp and pageantry commissioned Dangote refinery.
Month of August is almost going to half now and no news of when production from the refinery will start.
Unconfirmed reports had it that actual production take off of the refinery may be around 2025 but there is no concrete confirmation from the Dangote group on the veracity or otherwise of the report.
Nigerians are more confused with recent enlisting of Dangote as one of the companies that will be importing fuel by NNPC.
They are wondering what a company that is supposed to be producing fuel got to do with fuel importation.
Many hopes of Nigerians were hinged on Dangote refinery when president Tinubu in May removed fuel subsidy believing with oil production commencement of the company fuel price will be drastically crashed since there will be no foreign exchange usage in the importation of fuel by Dangote refinery.
