A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been arrested after he was allegedly caught sitting first a promotion examination on behalf of his father, Musa Mohammed, an employee of the FCT Fire Service, during the ongoing FCT Civil Service Commission promotion exam.
Monsuru was caught on Wednesday, the third day of the promotion examination organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission, at the examination venue within the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) premises.
The examination is being conducted for FCT civil servants following measures instituted by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to strengthen the process.
When questioned by security personnel, Monsuru reportedly claimed that his father, Musa Mohammed, was sick and within the NOUN premises.
He allegedly told officials that his father instructed him to sit for the examination on his behalf.
Asked about his father’s age, Monsuru reportedly said he was between 67 and 68 years old. However, Musa Mohammed told investigators that he would turn 60 in February 2027.
During questioning, the father reportedly said he completed primary school in 1977 and secondary school in 1982.
Both men were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation after making statements to Department of State Services (DSS) operatives.
The authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged impersonation and determine further action.
