There will be huge & disastrous consequences if Nigeria continues to neglect South-East’ region – Joe Igbokwe cries out

An All Progressives Congress chieftain in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has warned that there will be huge consequences if Nigeria continues to neglect the South-East zone.

Igbokwe disclosed this in a statement through his Facebook account on Saturday.

His comments come amid controversies that had trailed appointments under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Recall that a senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, tackled Tinubu’s administration, saying that his lopsided appointments could boomerang.

However, according to the presidency, appointment under Tinubu’s administration is based on merit.

Reacting, Igbokwe said, “If Nigeria continues to treat the South-east as if the zone does not exist or does not matter, the consequences will be huge. The civil war has ended, but the scars are still there. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Neglect of SE is bad.”
[4/15, 5:42 PM] Austine Uche Ejeke: Veteran journalist and publisher, Dele Momodu has called on the Nigerian Senate to urgently reinstate Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan expressing his support for her and acknowledging her accomplishments in office.

In an interview on Arise TV from 24:15, Momodu emphasized the importance of moving beyond the recent controversy surrounding the senator and focusing on the nation’s legislative responsibilities.

“I was one of those who went all out to support Senator Natasha and I’m very proud of her. I’m proud of what she has been able to achieve,” Momodu stated during the interview.

“But after all the hullabaloo, I think the time has come for the Senate to settle down to serious business. They should do everything possible to bring her back urgently, and I hope there will be concessions on both sides.”

Senator Natasha, who represents Kogi Central has been at the center of a political dispute that led to her suspension from the upper chamber. Her absence has sparked debates among Nigerians with many calling for her immediate return to enable her to continue her legislative duties.

Momodu, a long-time political commentator, emphasized the need for dialogue and understanding. “I pray that both sides will listen, but they need to bring her back urgently,” he added.

The call by Momodu adds to the growing public pressure on the Senate to resolve the impasse surrounding Senator Natasha’s suspension. Political observers note that her reinstatement would not only reflect democratic values but also allow her constituency to remain adequately represented.

As the Senate reconvenes, all eyes remain on the leadership to see how it addresses the issue and whether it heeds the calls from notable voices like Dele Momodu.
