Tension erupted today at the Rivers State Government House as aides and workers of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), the outgoing Sole Administrator, staged a dramatic protest over unpaid allowances and entitlements.
The situation turned chaotic when the aides, who had served him throughout his tenure, accused Ibas of attempting to vacate the office without settling their financial dues.
Shouting matches ensued, with some aides openly confronting him and alleging he planned to “sneak away” without fulfilling his obligations.
Sources within the Government House revealed that the confrontation became so heated that the Chief of Staff had to step in, pleading with the angry aides to remain calm and assuring them that efforts would be made to address their grievances.
