Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has accused President Bola Tinubu and his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, of having a long history of corruption.
He also questioned the integrity of the current administration.
In a statement posted on his social media platform, Sowore dismissed suggestions that Gbajabiamila could have acted independently in an alleged N400million bribery scandal linked to the creation of a fake government agency.
According to Sowore, Nigerians were deliberately pretending to be surprised by the allegations against the President’s Chief of Staff.
Sowore argued that it was unreasonable to believe Gbajabiamila acted without the knowledge of President Tinubu.
“I don’t understand why Nigerians even remotely think Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, was acting alone in taking a N400million bribe to create a fake government agency. Come on!”
The activist also referred to Gbajabiamila’s past legal troubles in the United States, alleging that the presidential aide had previously been involved in misconduct while practising law in Atlanta.
“Do you guys not know Femi Gbajabiamila’s history in Atlanta, where he was stealing his client’s money as a lawyer?”
Sowore revisited longstanding allegations surrounding President Tinubu’s past in the United States, claiming the President’s history was linked to drug trafficking allegations and a forfeiture case.
“And Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself lived in Chicago, where his past was tied to drug-trafficking and a major forfeiture case.”
The presidential candidate said it was implausible for anyone to suggest that Tinubu was unaware of Gbajabiamila’s alleged conduct.
“So, please, spare me the nonsense that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu suddenly discovered he had a thief beside him! Do you seriously think Tinubu doesn’t know Gbaja? Birds of the same feather don’t need introductions.”
He questioned the credibility of the entire administration.
“The real question is not whether Tinubu knows what Gbaja is capable of. The question is whether the entire @officialABAT government is not a racket.”
SaharaReporters previously reported that the Nigeria Police arraigned Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations that he forged presidential appointment letters and other official State House documents to operate a fictitious government agency known as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
The eight-count charge, filed by the Federal Republic of Nigeria, also named two other suspects identified only as Femi and Anu, who are currently at large.
According to the police, the case originated from a petition submitted by the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President following reports that forged appointment letters purportedly issued from the office were being circulated.
The interim investigation report stated: “This report deals with an alleged case of forgery and impersonation reported to the Inspector-General of Police, Force Headquarters, Abuja, via a letter dated 17th October, 2025, from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, State House, Abuja, against one Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew.”
Police investigators said their findings showed that forged documents bearing fake signatures, seals and reference numbers were used to create the impression that the suspect headed a federal government agency.
According to the report, “Investigation revealed that the forged documents had falsified signatures, reference/folio numbers, and seals, and were used to claim leadership appointments into non-existing entities particularly one known as the ‘Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC)’.”
Investigators further alleged that the suspect operated openly from the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja while presenting himself as the Director-General of the council.
