Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has disclosed that he was once paid to fake miracles, again lending weight to materialist tendencies of some so-called anointed pastors,
He said in that particular incident he had to pretend to have a physical disability as part of a staged healing miracle at a church.
He said all these were before he achieved fame in the Nigerian movie industry.
Solade made the startling revelation during an interview with Feel Right News TV.
According to him, he had been approached by organisers to play the role of a physically challenged individual during a public service and accepted financial payment for the performance.
He added that key individuals involved in organising the fake miracle are still alive, though he declined to publicly state their names.
The Eagle reports that about a year ago, he had spoken up about a long-standing clash with his former church, revealing how a dispute over Sunday film roles pushed him away from organised religion.
“I’d been told in the church that I should tell producers not to call me for work on Sundays. And I cursed the pastor,” Solade recounted.
“From that thing you said I shouldn’t do on Sunday is what I put my hand in my pocket and drop in church. So when will I have time to work? You want to ruin my career?”
