Thirty nine years ago life was snuffed out of frontline & ebullient journalist known as Dele Giwa. Coincidentally Dele Giwa was 39 years when he was killed.
Not that somebody cannot die but the way and manner he was killed still leaves sour taste in the mouth of many Nigerians.
His death came via a parcel bomb delivered in his office with another journalist colleague Kayode Soyinka. Fortunately for Kayode Soyinka he escaped death by whiskers and twist of fate and luck. That death via a parcel was a novel one and the first of its nature in the history of Nigeria.
Today October, 19 marks exactly 39 years that Dele Giwa was gruesomely and brutally killed and the question that still reveberate in Nigerians lips is who killed Dele Giwa.
It is worthy to note that Dele Giwa was killed during the autocratic and infamous regime General Ibrahim Babangida ,the self styled military president and evil genius.
Almost four decades after Nigerians are still asking who killed Dele Giwa and it will be better for those who have hand in the killing to confess before death meets them and of course they will never have peace of mind for this great callous treatment meted out to one of the finest journalists that Nigeria has ever produced.
Accusing fingers are pointing to the then sitting president as the architect, master minder and chief plotter of the killing while a serving chairman of a federal government agency is said to be the one that personally delivered the lethal parcel bomb to Dele Giwa in his office.
Time is running out and it will do whosoever that a hand in the killing of Dele Giwa to come out now and confess before it becomes eternally too late.
