Minister of Works, David Umahi, has urged people of the South-East to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, warning that ongoing federal infrastructure projects in the region could be affected if the President is not returned to office.
Speaking during a public event, Umahi said the South-East is currently witnessing unprecedented federal road projects and other infrastructure under the Tinubu administration.
According to him, the region should not waste its votes in the next general election, arguing that continued support for President Tinubu would help ensure that the ongoing projects are completed and more developmental projects are attracted to the South-East.
Umahi maintained that as long as Tinubu remains in power, the South-East stands to benefit from the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.
The minister called on Ndigbo to unite behind the President, saying the opportunity should not be taken for granted.
His remarks have sparked political reactions, with supporters agreeing that the region should back the administration to sustain ongoing projects, while critics argue that development should not depend on electoral support.
