Pastor David Ibiyeomie, the founder of Salvation Ministries has claimed in a recent sermon that God banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden not for eating a forbidden fruit, but for “touching” or eating their tithe.
In the words of Pastor Ibiyeomie he stated that Adam was permitted to use everything in the garden except what belonged to God, and that his true transgression was tampering with his tithe rather than eating an apple.
Bit Biblical account has it that Adam and Eve were expelled because they disobeyed God’s command not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
This controversial statement has drawn widespread backlash and criticisms from other religious leaders and the public.
For instance Reverend Samuel I. Michael and Pastor Abel Dina have pointed out that the claim has no Biblical basis in the scripture but only distorts the biblical narrative, and misrepresents the doctrine of salvation and tithing.
Still on the issue some years ago the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church has preached that anybody who doesn’t his or her tithe will never make heaven although recently retracted the statement admitting that it was an error.
