Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, has expressed shock being asked to pay $30 to watch matches of the ongoing World Cup at a Dallas, US viewing Centre.
He expressed his opinion via a video on his Facebook page on Thursday which is now gaining traction online.
“We are heading to the fan festival in Dallas. This is where we can watch the match. And it still feels like you are in the stadium. It’s like a viewing centre in Nigeria”, he informs, adding:
“People who have come to watch match, not even in the stadium. This is just the outside, this is where they put big screens.
“Do you know how much they are charging us? $30, that’s about 40,000,” he said.
Comparing the setup to viewing centres in Nigeria, Ikedieze said the atmosphere still gave fans the feeling of being at the match.
The matches which are viewable on giant screens have been an attraction to many fans who cannot go to the stadia, but Ikedieze who happens to be one of such fans, is however taken aback by the amount. On the security presence around the centres, he stated:
“Police are everywhere. The car park here is $30, bro. $30 to come and watch a game. This is America,” he said.
The Eagle reports that Chinedu Ikedieze is a known personality in the United States, and was honored in Miami, Florida as a distinguished visitor to the city in 2018.
