Former Big Brother Naija winner, Mercy Eke, has ignited debate on social media after opening up about her views on relationships and domestic responsibilities.
The reality TV star declared that she cannot date or marry a man who expects her to cook for him on a regular basis, stressing that she only enjoys cooking occasionally and only when she feels like it.
Eke made the remarks during a recent episode of the Toke Moments podcast hosted by media personality Toke Makinwa.
According to her, a man who prefers freshly prepared meals every day should consider hiring a chef rather than expecting her to take on that responsibility.
“I can’t marry or date a man who wants me to cook for him regularly. I only cook once in a while when I am in the mood. If you want fresh food every day, hire a chef.
“It can’t be me. Love can never make me cook for a man every day. I’m not the woman for that kind of man. There are other women out there who will gladly do that, which is fine.
“That is why it’s important to marry someone who has what you are looking for.
“So, if you marry me and you are thinking you don’t eat overnight food, it’s not me. I can’t cook every day.”
Her comments have since generated widespread reactions online, with many praising her honesty and emphasis on compatibility in relationships, while others disagreed with her position on domestic responsibilities.
