Former President Tinubu’s former adviser Buba Galadima has come out to say that in 1998 all the northern politicians supported late vice president Alex Ekwueme to become the president.
Buba Galadima revealed this on Arise Television interview with Charles Aniagolu as he said Obasanjo got majority of his support from the military Generals whom according to him has bulk of the money as at that time.
He was reemphasising this as a prelude to his support for the candidature of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso in the 2027 presidential election..
In 1998 Alex Ekwueme galvanized 33 other prominent Nigerians to form the highly powerful and influential G34 as a pressure group that risked their lives to fight the dreaded maximum ruler Sanni Abacha.
But at the PDP Jos Convention in 1998 the delegates elected General Obasanjo who was recently released from prison to emerge as the party’s presidential candidate and eventual winner of the 1999 presidential election.
