Williams Fubara, a 100-level psychology student at Madonna University, Okija, Nigeria, William Fubura reportedly died following a brutal physical assault by university hall representatives and students.
The assault was reportedly driven by bullying, prejudice, and accusations regarding his mannerisms, says reports.
Further reports indicate Fubara was targeted and severely beaten due to his effeminate mannerisms and suspicion of being gay and homosexual.
The assault was allegedly carried out by student “hall representatives” and university security personnel and before his death, reports claim Fubara was subjected to ongoing bullying, with specific mentions of harassment by a student leader identified as Nelson.
The incident has sparked outrage regarding gender policing and safety within Nigerian private universities.
The incident occurred at the Anambra State campus of the religious institution, according to reports as the bullying has sparked off outrage online.
