Operatives of the Kebbi State Hisbah Board have arrested a man allegedly found hiding inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag at the residence of a married woman in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.
The board’s Director of Sharia, Sirajo Kamba, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, residents of the community alerted the Hisbah authorities at about 12:15 a.m. on Monday after noticing the man entering the woman’s house under suspicious circumstances.
Kamba explained that the residents suspected conduct considered contrary to Islamic principles and subsequently reported the matter to the board.
He said Hisbah personnel were immediately deployed to the scene to carry out an investigation.
“On arrival, officers sought permission to search the house, but the woman initially insisted that nobody else was inside,” he said.
He added that after further persuasion, the woman allowed the officers to conduct a proper search, leading to the discovery of the suspect hidden inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag.
The Hisbah official stated that preliminary findings indicated the existence of an alleged romantic relationship between the suspect and the married woman.
He further disclosed that both individuals reportedly admitted to the allegation during interrogation and would be charged to court in accordance with Islamic law.
