Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has called on Nigerians to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, warning that changing leadership midway through ongoing reforms could disrupt progress in the fight against banditry and terrorism.
Kalu made the call in a statement congratulating the President on his third anniversary in office, made available to parliamentary correspondents.
According to the Deputy Speaker, the President has “cleared the ground” by removing economic distortions, attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and rebuilding fiscal buffers aimed at accelerating growth and development.
“With inflation now trending down and reserves recovering, a second term is the harvest period where Nigerians begin to feel the benefits of earlier tough decisions,” he said.
Hon. Kalu also cited ongoing reforms in the security sector, including the proposed state policing bill, improved military hardware, and new security doctrines, describing them as evidence that “the foundations are being reset.”
He stated that sustaining the reforms requires continuity in leadership.
“The first term cleared the debris and laid the foundation. The second term builds the house. Re-electing President Tinubu is a vote to complete the work, protect the gains, and give reforms time to translate into more jobs, lower costs, and lasting growth. Changing commanders-in-chief mid-process disrupts momentum against banditry and terrorism,” he said.
Kalu further argued that a second term would signal political stability and strengthen investor confidence.
“A second term signals political stability. It tells the world that Nigeria’s reforms tucked in the Renewed Hope Agenda will outlive one election cycle and unlock bigger investments in energy, tech, and manufacturing,” he added.
