Actor Zack Orji has stated that food prices are dropping and that hunger in Nigeria did not begin with President Tinubu’s administration.
He suggested that Nigerians should stop relying on social media misinformation and acknowledge that the administration’s reforms are producing results, with food prices for items like beans and rice dropping.
According to him reports indicate that food prices, including staple grains like rice, have come down, with some reports noting a drop from N110,000 to N60,000—N65,000 for a 50kg bag.
Zack Orji indicated that the current economic challenges are not new and that the government’s reforms, though slow, are addressing long-standing issues.
Pro-Government Sentiment:
He argued further that some supporters, including voices on social media confirm that naira-to-dollar exchange rate is improving, and the economy is recovering under the current administration.
However, some Nigerians including members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), have accused the government of manipulating food prices for political gain.
Despite the reported decrease in food prices, critics argue that food prices have been steadily rising since the beginning of the administration, citing the removal of subsidies as the causal factor.
Note: The results are based on social media reports and public statements, and the claims of falling prices might be viewed differently depending on the context and sources.
